Strategy needed for home ownership

The MP for Tamaki Makaurau wants to see a plan for helping Maori in Auckland buy their own homes.
Peeni Henare says he was disappointed it was not addressed properly in Auckland Council’s Ten Year Plan alongside transport and infrastructure concerns.
He says while some of the local iwi are looking at buying up the state houses the Government is determined to sell, that doesn’t address the gripping need of many whanau.
"I can’t see a clear strategy to improve Maori home ownership in Tamaki Makaurau and that was another point that came through in that 10 Year Plan, was to make more affordable housng for our people. I'm yet to see any good solid plan that will put our people into homes," he says.
