Maori gods stride out with Pride
Gods and Monsters will be stepping out on Ponsonby Rd tomorrow night.
Pride Parade coordinator Richard Taki says it's a theme that allows a lot of creativity, especially for floats with a Maori and Pacific flavour.
He says the Rainbow and gay community is always up for a celebration, and there will be more than 60 floats and participants.
Former Labour candidate Tamati Coffey will bring a roopu up from Rotorua with a float telling the story of the birdwoman Hatupatu.
The police will march in uniform with their horses and dogs, and 200 people will be on Air New Zealand's float.
Richard Taki says the way the gay and rainbow community expresses its pride is a beacon of light for other minority groups.
