Think different to overhaul huge margin
Labour’s Northland by-election candidate says she will challenge Northlanders to think differently about the way they are represented.
Willow Jean Prime won almost 9000 votes in September’s general election, just under half the tally of National’s Mike Sabin.
She says the seat has traditionally been true blue, and one of her tasks will be to ask voters why they return National MPs despite that party’s neglect of the region in terms of jobs, economic development and infrastructure.
" Through the conversations that I had with different people in the last election, I was challenging their thinking and they were also challenging mine. And what you would have seen in those results is that there were approxiamately 3000 people that voted for me as the candidate for Northlands MP and voted for a different party. And I believe there are alot of swing voters out there, so the challenge for me, is to engage with people, one on one and have those conversations and challenge their thinking " she says.
Willow Jean Prime says having her first baby three weeks ago has just made the household more organised and strengthened her determination to improve things for the next generation.
