Basketballer Tai Wynyard is set to join the top United States university team once he has finished his studies at Rangitoto College.
The 16-year-old, who shared top honours in last year’s Maori Sports Awards with his father, axeman Jason Wynyard, has committed to the University of Kentucky Wildcats college programme for 2016.
He’s currently a New Zealand Breakers development player and has played for the Junior Tall Blacks.
He had scholarship offers from two other colleges, but told Kentucky newspaper The Courier Journal that Kentucky promised to push him to the max.
