Roopu encouraged to fly Maori flag

Councils, government agencies, schools and other organisations are being encouraged to fly the Maori flag this Waitangi Day.
Te Ao Pritchard from Te Ata Tino Toa says the battle to have the flag flown on the Auckand Harbour Bridge has been won, but other roopu seem slow to take up what is an official symbol.
She says the petitions have gone out.
"We’ll repeat that process so that more people will be courageous and take up that karanga to fly one Maori flag in the hope that eventually we will be able to fly many Maori flags that represent marae and hapu and iwi as well, but right now we are still focusing on the tino rangatiratanga flag," Ms Pritchard says.
