A minister of the people
The author of a biography of the late Parekura Horomia says he was totally committed to people in need.
Sir Wira Gardiner says the Ikaroa Rawhiti MP understood people who did not have enough food to put on the table, or who had been dealt a bad hand by life.
Sir Wira knew Mr Horomia for 30 years and worked closely with him when he was minister, often being called in when things went wrong.
He says he had what it took to be a good minister of Maori Affairs.
Sir Wira says the first printing of Kia Ora, Chief has sold out and publishers Huia should have the second press in the shops soon.
