New name for Families Commission
The Families Commission has changed its name to the Social Policy Evaluation and Research Unit, or Superu for short.
It says the change better reflects how it does its work, and the focus is still very much on families and whanau.
The unit has been given additional responsibilities to monitor and evaluate programmes and interventions in the social sector, and to provide social science research into key issues, programmes and interventions.
It will work with social policy funders, providers and evaluators to increase their use of evidence when making decisions.
