Maori Party ex-VP Te Orohi Paul dies

The Maori Party is in shock at the sudden death of its former vice-president, Te Orohi Teeni Paul.
Ms Paul is believed to have died of an aneurism while travelling to take part in the White Ribbon motorcyle ride against family violence.
She was active in education circles, and was a member of the School Trustees Association.
Former co-leader Pita Sharples says Mrs Paul was a major contributor to the party, particularly during the difficult period when Hone Harawira was leaving to form Mana.
He says she was a strong person, and made a powerful team with her husband Hakopa.
Mrs Paul, who has Te Arawa, Tuhoe and Ngati Awa whakapapa, will be taken to Opatia Marae this evening then to Uiraroa Marae in Te Teko on Friday. Her nehu will be on Sunday
