Ngai Tahu footage given airing


Ngai Tahu members will this get a rare chance to see films of their tupuna.
The film archive Nga Taonga Sound & Vision and Heritage New Zealand have put together a programme of over 20 moving image excerpts celebrating Ngai Tahu history, made between 1910 and 2008.
They will be shown in marae in Canterbury, Otago and Southland.
Included are films of whitebaiting at Opihi in 1925, an eeling expedition during the 1930s, muttonbirders leaving Bluff on the ferry Wairua in 1965, and a 1931 film documenting centenary commemorations at Kaiapoi Pa.
