New putea for innovation
Maori collectives who want to look at new ways to get some value out of their assets can now get a leg up from the government.
The Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment is inviting applications for grants from its Te Punaha Hiringa: Maori Innovation Fund, which has $2 million a year to hand out.
Maori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell says the aim is to get new businesses up and running and help existing businesses become more productive.
Maori collectives are defined as trusts, incorporations, runanga and trust boards, post-settlement governance entities, and mandated iwi organisations.
The grants come under either the commercial advisors scheme or the governance and management development scheme.
Applications on the ministry portal close on December 18.
