Kiwa wins innovation award

A radical multi-platform and multil-lingual approach to publishing has won KIWA Digital the innovation in media, music & entertainment category at this year's New Zealand Innovation Awards.
Judges for the New Zealand Innovation Council say KIWA sees e-books as a platform, not just a product.
It has worked with clients such as the Ministry of Education, Penguin and Sesame Workshop to create innovative digital formats that contribute to learning, as well as creating products such as KIWA SLAM, where participants around the world tell their own stories from their own culture in their own language.
KIWA's new global business development director Steven Renata says the company has been helped by being part of a New Zealand innovation ecosystem.
The company started in 2003 as a post-production software company for film and television with a tool, Voice-Q, which was designed to automatically dub foreign-language dialogue in television and film production.
Voice-Q is now used in studios worldwide, including at Disney and 20th Century Fox.
