Collaboration brings strength to Moana’s Rima.

Moana and the Tribe's fifth studio album is now out, and singer Moana Maniapoto says its quality is a testament to the collaborators new and old she brought on board.
Rima was recorded in Rotorua, Glasgow and producer Paddy Free's home studio in Piha.
Maniapoto says it was an honour to have help with lyrics from reo speakers like Patu Hohepa, Aroha Yates and Scotty Morrison, who wrote three songs.
"They're just really beautiful. We don't even bother translating them. He wrote another song about the Maui dolphin, and then Aroha gave me some lines which I turned into karanga for a song called Seashell, and Patu wrote the lyrics for a song about our relationship to the ocean so there is a strong theme in the album about ocean and what water means to us," she says.
