Pressure on to tackle loansharks
Labour MP Nanaia Mahuta says bringing down the cost of living and making sure people earn more is the best way to tackle loansharks.
Labour has been critical of the limited steps the National-led Government has taken to crack down on the lenders, who often target low income Maori and Pacific communities with high interest loans.
Ms Mahuta says Labour intends to tackle excessive rates of interest that can leave people indebted for life.
Nanaia Mahuta says Labour needs to convinve voters that New Zealand needs a better economic plan than selling state assets to get revenue.
