IronMaori on the move

Taranaki’s Iron Maori is moving to Hawera.
The triathlon, a spin-off from the Hawkes Bay event, has been in Waitara for the past two years.
Debbie Ngarewa-Packer from Ngati Ruanui says her iwi sought the event because it’s a great way to promote healthy lifestyles.
Howie Tamati from Sport Taranaki says it’s likely the kaupapa will alternate between north and south Taranaki.
A mini-triathlon will be held during Ngati Ruanui’s festival next month, with the main event on February 14.
Meanwhile, Iron Maori founder Heather Skipworth will speak at the Tu Kaha Conference in Hastings at the end of October.
The biannual hui run by central region district health boards attracts experts in public health, innovators in health delivery and leaders of Maori development.
Places have also been made for 60 Maori year 13 students from across the country who have expressed an interest in a health career.
Many of the conference goers have registered to compete in the Quarter Iron Maori triathlon the next day Saturday at Pandora Pond in Napier.
