Maori Television revamp put on hold
New chief executive Paora Maxwell stumbled on the first hurdle in his plans for a revamp of Maori Television.
Mr Maxwell told staff today that after the board discussed the plan with Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples this morning, it has put the announcement of the strategic review proposal on hold until further notice.
He had earlier dismissed as incorrect claims by Mana leader Hone Harawira that the plan was to replace the station's Te Kaea news with a service from Television New Zealand, and to turn the hard-hitting Native Affairs current affairs show into a soft news magazine.
