Kaipara hapu are planning a two-day conference to discuss the future management and restoration of the harbour and its catchment.
Willie Wright, the chair of the Integrated Kaipara Harbour Management Group, says over the past decade the hapu-lead group has brought together a wide range of stakeholders, landowners and decision makers to share knowledge and best practice.
Its initiatives include research and environmental monitoring, establishing a flagship farm programme, and riparian planting throughout the catchment.
The event is at Te Ao Marama Maori Cultural Centre in Te Hana on November 15 and 16.
