Rakaumangamanga tops schools’ kapa haka
There will be celebrations this morning at Te Wharekura o Rakaumangamanga in Huntly over the school’s convincing win in the national secondary schools kapa haka competition.
The roopu came back from Gisborne with the trophy, having won the aggregate as well as the entry, moteatea and te reo prizes.
Te Ropu Raukura, a combined team from Rotorua Boys and Rotorua Girls High Schools, came second, topping the poi section.
Te Puna Waiorea from Auckland’s Western Springs College came third.
For the first time this year the top nine teams competed in an extra final round.
