Call for calm after Opotiki killing
A 34-year-old man will appear in the Rotorua District court today charged with the murder of a Mongrel Mob member in Opotiki.
Joe Collier was stabbed during a brawl in the town on Sunday night.
Police and community leaders have been calling for calm after the killing, but there have been retaliatory attacks and a drive by shooting.
Six men and a woman were arrested yesterday morning for ‘‘disorder’’ in the town.
Mr Collier’s sister Lisa says while she understood her brother’s friends were hurting, they should forget about revenge and let the family bury him.
