Entries have opened for the Waiata Maori Music Awards, which will be presented at a gala event at the Hastings Sports Centre on September 12.

Previous winners include the likes of Maisey Rika, Te Awanui Reeder and Pieter T.

Entries will be judged by active members of the Maori music industry.

There will also be legacy awards to acknowledge the past contributions made by Maori performers and composers.
