Festival could bring Mangere together
Mana’s Mangere candidate James Papali’i is suggesting a peace festival in Mangere could bring the community together after the recent school stabbings in the area.
The south Auckland social worker organised a similar festival in the Mangere Town Centre several years ago after a spate of murders in the area.
He says that had a positive effect.
Mr Papali’i says apart from the stabbings, one of which happened at a school one of his children attends, community and family stresses are increasing in Mangere because of cheap booze on every corner, pokie machines, loan sharks and illegal highs.
