Davis 18 on Labour list
Labour list MP Kelvin Davis is putting a disappointing list position behind him as he concentrates on campaigning for Te Tai Tokerau.
With Hauraki Waikato MP Nanaia Mahuta at number 5 taking the leading Maori spot and Louisa Wall from the safe Manurewa seat also refusing to step out of the list, Mr Davis could only make the number 18 spot.
He says his priority has always been to unseat incumbent Hone Harawira, but if that doesn’t happen and Labour doesn’t improve in its current polling he will be looking for a new job after September 20.
With sitting MPs dominating the top list rankings, it’s also unlikely that Rotorua candidate Tamati Coffey at number 30 and Northland’s Willow Jean Prime at 34 will shift to Wellington any time soon.
There’s only one Pasifika candidate in the first 20, Su’a William Sio whose hold on Mangere is rock solid.
