Temporary judge for court
Rotorua lawyer Miharo Armstrong is taking a step up to the Maori Land Court.
He’s been a temporary judge for a year from August.
Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples says the Aurere Law partner has extensive experience in the court as well as considerable understanding of the operations of the Waitangi Tribunal where he will also work.
He understands tikanga Maori and the issues facing Maori land owners and their communities.
The appointment is needed to assist with the workload of the court and the Tribunal following the retirement of Judge Andrew Spencer last year.
