Shortlist for big screen Maori shorts
Seven Maori and Pasifika short films have been selected for inclusion in the New Zealand International Film Festival.
The Nga Whanaunga shorts programme was curated by Wairoa Maori Film Festival director Leo Koziol and Niuean Crag Fasi, the director of the Pollywood Film Festival.
Mr Koziol says they are stunning works made by big screen storytellers at the cutting edge.
They include Riwia Brown’s In the Rubbish Tin, Footsteps by Lenie Hill, Poata Eruera’ Pumanawa: The Gift, Tohunga by Rebecca Collins, Ahi Kaa by Richard Curtis, hip hop dance drama Rising Dust by Jack Woon, and INC’d by Darren Simmonds.
