Ngai Tahu rep to stand for National

National has selected Ngai Tahu businessperson Nuk Korako of Ngai Tahu to contest what could be a tight race for Port Hills.
Boundary changes could put pressure on the sitting member, Ruth Dyson, in September’s election.
The electorate now includes Woolston, Bromley and Sydenham as well as the Cashmere Hills and the town on the north of Lyttelton Harbour.
It was one of the electorates worst hit by the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes.
Mr Korako runs a tourism consultancy as well as sitting on both Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu and the board of sits on both the Ngai Tahu Holdings Corporation, as well as on a range of other Maori, community and environmental organisations.
