Hui for early childhood educators

Maori educators are in Auckland for Te Hinatore, a conference to look at the issues facing Māori working with young Māori tamariki and their whānau.
Speakers include Dr Lance O’Sullivan, who has established school-based health programmes in Te Taitokerau, Te Kotahi Research Institute director Dr Leonie Pihama, who is studying Maori childrearing, and other experts.
The two day hui is hosted by Te Puna Kōhungahunga, the Māori medium early childhood education centre at the University of Auckland.
Kaiwhakahaere Karen Liley says there is more to Maori medium education than kohanga reo.
