Four line up for Labour nomination

Nominations for Labour’s candidate to contest Tamaki Makaurau close at 5 this afternoon, with four names put forward so far.
The selection was reopened after Labour’s ruling council vetoed the nomination of broadcaster Shane Taurima after a report critical of the actions that led to his departure from Television New Zealand.
The sole nominee left in that race, secondary school teacher Will Flavell, is still keen to stand.
So too are Shanan Halbert, Reina Harris and Peeni Henare, whose great grandfather Tau Henare held the Northern Maori seat early last century.
Labour general secretary Tim Barnett says the selection will be made on Sunday.
