Greens candidate a ‘natural’ politician
Greens leader Metiria Turei expects Marama Davidson to boost the Green’s share of the party vote in the Tamaki Makaurau electorate.
The mother of six and former Human Rights Commission staffer is up against Maori Party’s Rangi McLean, with Labour expected to say tomorrow whether it will confirm schoolteacher Will Flavell as its candidate or reopen nominations.
Ms Turei says Ms Davidson is a natural politician, as she showed in last year’s Ikaroa Rawhiti by-election.
"She's smart, she's politically savvy and she knows what she believes in and she knows how to get that across."
"That's critical for a politician, to have a set of values that they can then reflect through the issues that affect the people they're talking to."
"I think that Marama, as long as she doesn't mind me saying this, is a natural politician in that sense, and that's very rare, so we're very fortunate that she's working for us," says Metiria.
