Te Papa to grow
A development group has been set up to flesh out the plan to create a branch of the national museum Te Papa Tongarewa in south Auckland.
Te Papa chair Evan Williams says the group includes community leaders, museum specialists, art practitioners, educators, cultural advocates, as well as local iwi and cultural groups.
It will work with Te Papa, Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland Council and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage to complete the project concept and case study for the proposed National Centre for Collections, Education and Exhibitions in Manukau.
Mr Williams says the business case will incorporate Maori and Pacific dimensions, culture, science and heritage education.
