Miromoda invites entries

The Miromoda fashion design competition is calling for entries from designers who identify as Maori.
The competition has become an important stepping stone for young designers, as the winners and runners up will be showcased at New Zealand Fashion Week in Auckland in August.
There is a category for Maori working with established designers or with their own label, one for emerging designers, an avante garde category for designers who want to push the boundaries and a T-shirt competition for secondary and tertiary students or freelance designers.
The organisers warn that designers who want to use ta moko, taniko or kowhaiwhai patterns should consult regarding their appropriateness or correct usage.
Entries close on May 30, and garments need to be completed in time for the judging on June 20.
