Mahuta confident Labour will stop Cullen brand

Hauraki-Waikato MP Nanaia Mahuta is confident she can withstand a challenge from a strong Maori Party candidate.
Susan Cullen has been picked to contest the seat held by the Labour MP since 1999.
Ms Mahuta says through her work with Te Wananga o Aotearoa the educationalist made a huge contribution to developing programmes that support people going back into education.
But she says Maori are looking for policies that deliver for their families.
"I think voters in Hauraki-Waikato deserve to see what is up on offer, but I am absolutely confident people want to see real change and that the Maori Party has shown that it is a Trojan horse for a National Government, so people will make their decisions based on what they see fit and what will deliver back to this electorate," she says.
Ms Mahuta says while Ms Cullen also has had the support of the Maori king for her education-related activities, the Kingitanga doesn’t endorse election candidates.
