Milroy steps back from tribunal role

There’s been a change in the Waitangi Tribunal, with Stephanie Milroy stepping down as deputy chair for heath reasons.
She will continue as a tribunal member and a judge of the Maori Land Court.
Tribunal chair Wilson Isaac says in her four years in the job Judge Milroy has been invaluable in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the tribunal.
Her replacement is Judge Patrick Savage, one of the tribunal’s longest-serving presiding officers.
One of the most important roles of the deputy chair is to manage applications for urgent hearings, which is often politically contentious.
