Synthetic drugs destroying families

Independent MP Brendan Horan is welcoming a back-down over so-called legal highs.
The Government intends to rush through legislation by May 8 to ban the sale of psychoactive substances that haven’t completed the certification process.
It comes after mounting public concern and the spectacle of queues forming outside legal high shops that had been closed for Good Friday and Easter.
Mr Horan says it’s a poison that is destroying families, including his own.
"You go to any psyche ward, any hospital in New Zealand and it is full of people. It's amazing the people I interact with and then they tell me 'my cousin, he's in hospital or my brother's done this or my sister's done this.' It is real poison," he says.
