Bradford offside in Dotcom debate
Mana leader Hone Harawira wants former Green MP Sue Bradford to make it clear wehther she is still with the party as it negotiates with Kim Dotcom’s Internet Party.
The former Alliance and Green MP left Mana’s annual meeting early after the German data mogul had made his pitch to combine his party’s outreach with young voters with the prospect of piggy-backing list candidates into parliament if Mr Harawira retains Te Taitokerau.
She later told the media many in the party were unhappy over the talks because of Mr Dotcom’s capitalist agenda, and she could walk if an alliance goes ahead.
Mr Harawira says Ms Bradford should know better than to fight an internal party debate in the media.
"If she wants to speak that’s fine but she’s not speaking on Mana’s behalf and unfortunately for Sue she left the hui before the decision was made. We had a long and robust debate about it and both Sue and her husband Bill, they took part in the debate along with everybody else but the final decision was unanimous support for the Mana leadership to continue negotiations with the Internet Party on the possibility of some kind of arrangement going into the 2014 election," he says.
Mr Harawira says any alliance would need to be confirmed by Mana’s membership.
