The University of Auckland Business School has chosen a leading sportswoman as its Outstanding Maori Business Leader for 2014.
Olympic gold medal kayaker Lisa Carrington will receive the award at the annual Aotearoa NZ Maori Business Leaders and Alumni Awards Dinner in Auckland next month.
Previous winners have included Ian Taylor, Sir Howard Morrison, Rob McLeod, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, and Sir Ralph Norris.
Ms Carrington, from Ohope, was New Zealand’s Maori Sportsperson of the Year in 2012 and continued her dominance in the K-1 200m by winning the world title again in 2013.
She is studying politics and Maori studies at Massey University.
