Maori could be bridge to India

A University of Canterbury PhD management student believes the similarities between Maori and Hindu cultures could create a valuable trade bridge for New Zealand.
Jess Templeton has won an Education New Zealand scholarship in conjunction with the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, and will head to New Delhi this month to study business issues.
Ms Templeton has been looking at tribal business systems as part of her studies at the Ngai Tahu Research Centre.
She says as a young Maori-Indian management doctoral candidate, she is excited about the opportunity to network with Indian industry leaders and top executives.
She says India’s expanding economy is making it more important to New Zealand, and Maori business has significant commercial potential in the greater Asia-Pacific region through India.
