No bail but parole chance for Pora

The Maori Party says the decision by the High Court to deny bail to Teina Pora is an example of injustice in the Justice system.
Pora applied for bail because he is preparing an appeal to the Privy Council against his conviction for raping and murdering Auckland woman Susan Burdett in 1992.
The court says it doesn’t have jurisdiction to grant bail before the appeal.
Tamaki Makaurau MP Pita Sharples says the Maori Party has serious doubts over whether he committed the crime.
Pora will appear before the Parole Board today.
