Northland dairy conversion opens

The Omapere Rangihamama Trust will tomorrow open what it hopes will be a model farm for other Northland landowners.
The trust has been working with the Ministry for Primary Industries to transform its 278 hectare property near Kaikohe from grazing to high-productivity dairy farming.
Ben Dalton, the ministry’s deputy director general says that has meant pulling together a large number of stakeholders into a larger and more commercially effective operation.
He says the hope is the Rangihamama Dairy Conversion will act as an exemplar for increased productivity on surrounding land blocks.
