Auckland’s Museum of Transport and Technology is looking to increase its engagement with local Maori.
It held a powhiri last week including staff, volunteers, board members and Ngati Whatua to symbolise the new era.
Chief executive Michael Frawley says the museum was working with the iwi on ways Maori knowledge, wisdom and views can be incorporated into MOTAT activities and passed on to visitors.
Its new five year strategic plan includes forming a Maori Advisory Committee this year and developing a Maori Partnership Strategy.
