Regional kapa haka for Maori TV

Maori Television has struck a deal to broadcast the largest regional kapa haka competitions.
The deal with Te Matatini Society and six regional kapa haka trusts covers television and online broadcasts of the Tai Tokerau, Tamaki Makaurau, Tainui, Mataatua, Te Arawa and Tairawhiti events.
Te Matatini chair Selwyn Parata says some of the best kapa haka performances happen at the regional competitions.
He says during last year’s national championships in Rotorua more than 20,000 a day accessed the Maori Television to watch live or pre-recorded kapa haka performances.
The Maatatua competition was the first to be filmed under the agreements.
