Gisborne wins The Pa Boys premiere

Te Poho o Rawiri Marae in Gisborne is getting ready to host the premiere of The Pa Boys.
The feature will open in cinemas around the country on Waitangi Day.
Former Maori Television presenter Te Hamua Nikora won the honour for his marae by shooting the most popular video on why the red carpet should be rolled out there, as judged by viewers of the film’s Facebook page.
He says he initially produced a five minute video, which he recut in a sped up version once he read the rules saying it had to be three.
Mr Nikora says Gisborne loves to manaaki people.
"I'm really proud of the way the whanau around here grasped the concept, saw my video and started sharing it all over Facebook. We all know what it's like to live in G-town and we don't get many flash things like this around here, so I think the whanau really wanted this premiere so we could say we had the premiere, the world premiere of a movie in Gisborne that wasn't about whales, because the one about whales, that was like watching ourselves," Mr Nikora says.
Stars Fran Kora, Matariki Whatarau and Tola Newbery and ther cast and crew members will travel to Gisborne to screen The Pa Boys to the local iwi, as well as perform some of the soundtrack live.
