Peters mauled by wet sheep
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is rejecting an attack by former ACT leader Rodney Hide that he was past his best.
Mr Peters says Mr Hide had squandered millions of dolars in funding from his political backers, while New Zealand First has managed to stay politically relevant because of its support from ordinary New Zealanders.
"How sad Rodney, I mean you were never up to much in politics. You came in as the big perk buster and got caught as the biggest perk taker there ever has been. You got done and you lost your job and lost the leadership of your party and in the fit of bile he writes an article and attacks me. Well its like being savaged by a wet sheep," he says.
Winston Peters says the former Epsom MP is driven by envy and jealousy, and he should quit commentary and leave politics to those with the stamina and ability for it.
