Ngai Te Rangi to sign settlement

The last of the major Tauranga Moana raupatu settlements will be signed off this Saturday.
Ngai Te Rangi people are gathering in Tauranga for a four-day celebration to mark the occasion.
Iwi runanga chair Charlie Tawhiao says it will be the start of a healing process that is long overdue.
He says the impact of the iwi of losing its land and resources 150 years ago, as well as the loss of lives, are still felt by its people today.
The settlement will add to an already significant Maori investment in the local economy, as the iwi resumes its rightful role as leaders in the Tauranga Moana community.
Activities begin at dawn tomorrow with a karakia at the top of Mauao.
The signing ceremony at Whareroa Marae will be followed by a whanau fun day, with Sunday devoted to water-based activities like waka ama and a harbour cruise, before getting back to business on Monday with a workshop on doing business in a global economy.
