A sculpture depicting Whangarei’s founding sisters Reitu and Reipae has been restored after being damaged by vandals.
The black carving by John Ioane was broken off at the base when someone tried to climb it last month.
Chris Carey, from Culture Heritage Arts Resource Trust, says it has now been restored to its place beside the Hatea River.
He says the work has become a much loved aspect of the Town Basin.
