Picket helps release final pay

Former Tachikawa workers will receive an initial payment on their redundancy before Christmas.
Receivers of the failed Rotorua sawmill had told the 120 workers payment was unlikely because of a claim by a forestry company, but a picket last Wednesday of Hancock Forest Management appears to heve removed that obstacle.
FIRST Union general secretary Robert Reid says they are set to get an initial 43 cents in the dollar followed by a further pament early in the new year.
The union and local hapu held a special event for the workers and their families at Apumoana Marae at the weekend.
