Residency allows scope for challenge
Poet, playwright and performer Hinemoana Baker is looking forward to using a year long writer’s residency to tackle a difficult family story.
Baker starts as Victoria University’s creative writer in residence in February.
She wants to complete her third poetry collection, as well as a longer work of non-fiction.
"I do have a story that I've wanted to tell about my dad who grew up in an orphanage in Nelson, it wasnt a great time, it was the best and worst of times. I might finally get the concentration and start working out how to tell that story," says Hinemoana Baker.
