Anadarko stirs up Raglan hapu

Raglan hapu are angry they were not consulted about Texas oil giant Anadarko's plans to prospect for oil and gas off the Waikato coast.
Environmentalist Angeline Greensill says the first the locals heard about the plans was through a newspaper report.
A drilling ship, the Noble Bob Douglas, is in its way to the Romney Prospect in the Taranaki Basin, 200 kilometres west of Raglan where it will drill in 1500 metres of water.
Mrs Greensill has called a public meeting at the Raglan Town Hall tonight to discuss Anadarko’s plans.
She says the company can’t attend, but indicated it would be available later for a marae meeting.
The office of Energy and Resources Minister Simon Bridges says iwi were consulted during the permit application stage.
Anadarko is facing similar scrutiny for its plans to prospect off Kaikoura.
The company was a partner with BP in the Deepwater Horizon which spilled almost 5 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
