Injury woes for Maori All Blacks

Bad news for Piri Weepu and Hika Elliot on the Maori All Blacks’ short North American tour.
Elliot injured his neck during the first half of yesterday’s clash against Canada, and he’s on his way home.
So too is Weepu, who led yesterday’s haka but was ruled out just before kick off because he had not recovered a knee injury sustained in training on Saturday.
Tasman hooker Quentin MacDonald will replace Elliot, and Weepu’s place will be taken by Taranaki halfback Chris Smylie.
They are now heading for Philadelphia, where the team takes on the United States next Sunday local time.
The Maori All Blacks won yesterday’s match against Canada 40-15, running in six tries to two.
