Moana returns to the WOMAD stage

One of World Music’s most recognised Maori stars returns to the Womad stage in New Plymouth next March.
Moana Maniapoto and the Tribe is one of eight homegrown acts at the three-day event.
Taonga puoro player Horomona Horo, who has played with the Tribe in the past, gets his own spot on the Bowl of Brooklands stage with his Waiora project.
Overseas acts include Hawaiian guitarist Makana, Tunisian singer Emel Mathlouthi whose protest ballads echoed out during the recent Tunisian and Egyptian revolutions, and six-piece Zimbabwean group Mokoomba, who sing in their tribal tongue.
Grammy award-winning group Arrested Development will represent the United States.
It’s the 10th time the World of Music and Dance festival has been held in Taranaki.
