TSB Trust funds Maori job scheme

A Taranaki initiative to increase the number of Maori working in health has been given a $150,000 boost from the TSB Community Trust.
Tanya Anaha from Te Whare Punanga Korero Trust says the grant means the Whakatipuranga Rima Rau project won’t be so reliant on year to year funding and can plan strategically.
The project, which involves the trust, Taranaki District Health Board and Work and Income, aims to get 500 Maori into the healthy and disability workforce over the next 10 years.
It is now working with 174 secondary students throughout Taranaki, offering support and mentoring until they are able to find jobs.
