Maori musos join Gluepot celebration

Maori songstress Mahia Blackmore will make a rare public appearance in Auckland as part of next month’s Gluepot reunion concert at the Powerstation.
Organiser Paul Walker says last year’s celebration of the former Ponsonby music venue went so well, they’ve gone for a repeat on November 1.
This year’s line-up includes Hello Sailor with Dave Dobbyn stepping up to fill in the guitar parts of the late Dave McArtney, the Exponents and the Gluepot All Stars.
"The guys singing are Hammond Gamble, Rick Bryant, Larry Morris, Neil Edwards and on the girls side Mahia Blackmore, Sandy Mill and Truda Chadwick. And then the band is the two Ryans, Dennis on drums and Grant on guitar, Walter Bianco on sax and Peter Wood on keyboards and Alex Griffiths on bass" says Paul Walker
Memories of the Gluepot will also be shared from 7 tonight at the Dogs Bollix in Newton Rd as part of the Auckland Heritage Festival.
